Sharing with you some of my favourite stationery:

Fountain Pen

I often thought fountain pen is for artistic use, or as a show-off for those “successful” businessmen. Only when I was working in Mainland China, I found that most students used it since they were in primary school. It is common and affordable. Also, an ex-colleague said once you use a fountain pen, you don’t want to use plastic disposable pens anymore.

Fountain pens use liquid ink, the writing flow is smoother and we can write without adding pressure to the nib. They are good companions for speed writing or in long writing sessions. Fountain pens are also sturdier and longer-lasting because of the material used in production. It is also satisfying to refill ink, it’s like a reward for my writing.

Once I bought a new fountain pen, I have to write frequently to “develop a good relationship” with the nib. Sometimes it only takes several days, sometimes it could be several weeks. Once I feel the nib is in a smooth state, it becomes my life-long friend.

There are different nib types and nib materials (metal/gold) to choose from, depending on your preference and budget.

Notebook/ Loose-leaf

Fountain pens are great only when they are used with quality paper. I would recommend Muji because of its price quality.

The notebook provides a systemic way of documentation, while loose-leaf provide flexibility in arranging thoughts and ideas.

Post-it Note

A powerful tool for brainstorming, writing reminders etc…

Check out the Post-it official website for a lot more ideas in educational and office use.

Whiteboard and markers

I have an A4-size whiteboard for writing reminders/ schedules. It’s also a great tool for studying.

Below are neither classified as stationary or tech gadgets, but they are the key to helping me work/ study comfortably.

BackJoy Posture Seat

I have been using BackJoy for around four years — one for home use, another one for office use.

I can even put a chain and hang it on my backpack when travelling by train, plane as sitting still for hours is uncomfortable.

Footrest

For overall comfort, the legs and feet should also be positioned in a correct posture. If I adjust the height of the office seat, my feet cannot touch the ground (because I am too short). In this case, the footrest helps.

If you would like to buy one, remember to choose those with adjustable height for more flexibility.
